본 연구에서는 아동이 지각한 부모의 부부갈등이 우울 증상에 미치는 영향에서 자아존중감의 조절효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 인천, 충청남도, 부산에 소재한 초등학교에 재학 중인 5, 6학년학생 248명을 대상으로 자녀가 지각한 부부갈등척도, Rosenberg의 자아존중감 척도, 한국형 소아우울척도를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였으며, 상관분석과 위계적 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 그리고 그 조절효과가 유의한 경우 이를 그래프로 제시하고 단순 기울기 검증을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동이 지각한 부모의 부부갈등 총점과 그 하위요인인 갈등의 성질, 자기비난, 위협은 우울 증상에 정적인 방향으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 아동이 지각한 부부갈등 총점, 갈등의 성질이 우울증상에 미치는 영향에서 자아존중감이 조절효과를 나타내었다. 이와 같이 본 연구를 통해 아동이지각한 부모의 부부갈등이 아동의 우울 증상에 미치는 영향에서 자아존중감의 조절효과를 규명하였으며, 부모의 부부갈등을 경험하는 아동을 대상으로 자아존중감 향상을 위한 개입이 아동의 건강한 정서적 발달을 돕는데 필요하다는 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effects of self-esteem in children’s perceived interparental conflict and depressive symptoms. The subjects comprised 248 5th and 6th grade children in elementary schools. The collected data was analyzed using Pearson``s correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis was analyzed by means of the SPSS 22.0 statistical program. If the results thus obtained were judged to be significant or otherwise meangful, has they were then further analyzed graphically and a simple slope analysis was conducted. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, higher levels of the total score of children’s perceived interparental conflict and its sub-factors (conflict properties, self-blame and threats) and these higher scores predicted significantly higher depressive symptoms. Second, it was found that self-esteem had a number of valuable moderating effects on the relationship between the total score of children``s perceived interparental conflict and conflict properties and depressive symptoms. This study confirmed the important role of children``s self-esteem in decreasing the negative impact of children``s perceived interparental conflict on depressive symptoms.
