본 연구에서는 지금까지의 국내/외 다문화연구의 동향을 분석함으로써, 향후 국내 학자들의 연구가 우리 다문화사회를 위한 해법을 제시할 뿐만 아니라, 국제 다문화사회에서도 인정받기 위해 무엇을 해야 할 지 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 2000년 이후 결혼이주여성의 증가로 한국은 다문화사회에 진입함에 따라 국가와 시민사회에서 많은 논의가 진행되어 왔다. 또한 국내/외 저널에 다문화사회 및 결혼기반 다문화사회에 대한 많은 논문이 발간되었다. 이렇듯 활발한 논의와 연구에도 불구하고 정부와 국민은 미래 건강한 다문화사회를 정착시키기 위한 실천이 미흡하고, 기존의 연구들은 아직 적절한 해결방안을 제시하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서 다문화사회 연구동향분석으로부터 얻어진 시사점을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한글논문의 세계화가 필요하다. 둘째, 국내 기관이 운영하는 더 많은 영문저널을 웹어브사이언스에 등재하고 관리할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 자국민 다문화 교육을 강화하기 위한 연구가 필요하다. 넷째, 글로벌 경쟁력 관점에서 다문화 2세대 교육에 대한 연구가 중요하다. 다섯째, 미래 다문화사회 정착화를 위해서는 사회학, 여성학, 유전학 등 더 다양한 분야로 연구영역을 확대할 필요가 있다.

This article aims at drawing implications from existing research domestically and internationally to assist Korean researchers not only to suggest solutions for the current problems faced by multicultural societies in Korea but also to encourage publication of their articles about multicultural societies to world-renowned journals. Since 2000 ,the number of marriage migrant women (also referred to as "mail-order brides") to Korea has rapidly increased, the Korean government and general public have continuously discussed the topic of a new multicultural society. Concurrently, many research articles on multicultural societies and marriage-based multiculture were published domestically and internationally. However, despite such active discussion and research activities, Korean society is less inclined to accept foreign immigrants as a member of the domestic society; further, academic researchers have yet to provide practical solutions for such views. Summarizing the research results, first, articles in Korean needs to be shared in a global forum. Second, more domestic journals in English are necessary to be listed to Web of Science and to be managed properly to keep its position. Third, more research on multicultural education courses are necessary for native Koreans. Fourth, education research for children in multicultural environment needs to be developed in view of global competition power. Fifth, there needs diverse research covering sociology, women`s study, genetics etc. to work towards establishing a sustainable multicultural society in Korea.
