This study compared and analyzed Night-time Domestic Flow Evaluation, Water Use Evaluation and BOD Evaluation by conducting the investigation of flux and water quality for one year from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014 targeting three treatment basins among Build-Transfer-Lease(BTL) sections of sewer pipe maintenance that was carried out nationwide regarding BTL section of sewer pipe maintenance in Sangju-si in 2005 aiming at providing basic data of installation status and maintenance of separate sewer pipe as the investigation and analysis of infiltrated and influent water at the separate sewer pipe maintenance area. As the results, it was judged that it was impossible to analyze Water Use Evaluation because the use of underground water was huge considering local characteristics of Sangju-si and the analysis of infiltrated and influent water (I/I) that is the method of investigating and analyzing night-time domestic flow and the status of night-time domestic flow of residence center for each administrative district and treatment basin was used in this study because it was judged that it was impossible to apply the characteristic factor during base period due to the change of water-collecting cycle and method when it comes BOD Evaluation. As the results of analysis, it was shown that the ratio of infiltrated was average 17.3% and infiltration rate was 0.29m3/d/cm/km in case of Jeungchon treatment basin, infiltrated was average 23.5% and infiltration rate was 0.61m3/d/cm/km in case of Mansan treatment basin and infiltrated was average 11.3% and infiltration rate was 0.03m3/d/cm/km in case of Shinheaung treatment basin. To summarizing analysis results of each treatment basin, the area with the lowest infiltration was Shinheaung treatment basin and the area with the highest infiltration was Mansan treatment basin among the investigated areas, and the average of investigated area was analyzed as 0.31m3/d/cm/km.

1Fe(3)로 표면처리된 메조포러스 실리카에 의한 셀렌(Se), 비소(As), 불소(F), 인(P) 제거에 관한 연구

Fe(Ⅲ)-impregnated mesoporous silicas were developed for the removal of selenite, arsenate, fluoride and phosphate ions by adsorption in aqueous phase. Mesoporous silica used for heavy metals adsorbents were prepared by co-condensation of surfactant as a template and Ludox HS-40 as a silica precursor. These materials characterized by elemental analysis, XRD and SEM analysis. To elucidate the surface characteristic of adsorbents, the zeta potentials were measured. As a result of zeta potential data, mesoporous silica indicated that the surface potentials seem to be independent on the pH and the low negative charge showed in the range of all pH. On the other hand, the surface potentials of Fe(Ⅲ)-impregnated mesoporous silica indicated that positive zeta potential charge at the pH 3∼8. Fe(Ⅲ)-impregnated mesoporous silica effectively removed 95% of 20 ppm arsenate(As) at pH 4.5∼8.0 and removed 83% of 20 ppm selenite(Se) at pH 4.5∼7.7, respectively. And Fe(Ⅲ)-impregnated mesoporous silica removed 80 % of 20 ppm fluoride(F) at pH 2.5∼7.0 and removed 86 % of 20 ppm phosphate(P) at pH 2.5∼8.0, respectively. The removal selectivity by the Fe(Ⅲ)-impregnated mesoporous silica was in the order of As > P > Se > F.

The adsorption of two dyes, namely Basic Yellow 2(BY2) and Acid Red 88(AR88) onto granular activated carbon was studied as various physicochemical parameters of initial dye concentration, temperature, initial pH, pre-treatment by HCl and NaOH and ionic strengh with KCl. This adsorption experiment was performed in batch system. The equilibrium isotherms for AR88 and BY2 were described by both of the Langmuir isotherm model and the Freundlich model. The results of initial dye concentration showed that the adsorption capacity of both dyes increased with the initial concentration increased and the adsorption process of two dyes were described well pseudo-second-order kinetics. The adsorption capacity of BY2 and AR88 increased with increased temperature. But there is not a distinct difference of the amount of dyes adsorbed (BY2(qe=16.10~16.55); AR88(qe=14.98-15.33)). The ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° were also evaluated for thermodynamic study. The removal efficiency was highest in a pH range of 6-10 for BY2 and of 2 for AR88. The effect of the activated carbon pre-treated with HCl and NaOH was 95-96% for BY2 and 89-93% for AR88. And optimum conditions for both dyes removal were found to be 0.01M KCl.

This research was performed to clarify the mechanisms of nitrogen and phosphorus removal by wood powder. In this work, Pinus rigida which is abundant in Korea and has no economic value was used in preparation of the wood powder as a sorbent material. The experiments were carried out in 2 phases, isothermal adsorption test, column test. The results of adsorption test fitted well the Langmuir and Feundlich isothermal equations. Mixed powder which contained 50% bark powder and 50% woody powder exhibited higher adsorption bond energy and adsorption capacity than woody powder alone. Effects of sulfate and organic matters on phosphate uptake by mixed powder were studied by running equilibrium column tests at background sulfate and COD concentrations, 300mg/L and 150mg/L, respectively. The effects of sulfate and COD were not evident, while the removal of TN and PO4-P was over 99% and 98%, respectively. It was found that the mixed powder was effective in the selective removal of nitrogen and phosphate.

Rapid climate change by global warming effects has frequently affected intake water qualities in water treatment process. This study evaluated a coagulant reduction method using multiple water resource blending. In normal conditions defined by turbidity 0-25NTU, TOC 0-8mg/L, and NO3-N 1-8mg/L, PASC dose of 15mg/L was determined based on the jar test and the pilot test. While insufficient water quantity or degradation of water quality was measured, ground water was blended a front or back of sandfilter to satisfy water quality and quantity. In emergency condition defined by turbidity 25-400NTU, TOC over 8mg/L, NO3-N over 8mg/L, pH 6.5-8.0, and TDS over 100 mg/L, the coagulant dose was determined 17.4mg/L at turbidity 100NTU, 23.2mg/L at 130NTU and 29mg/L at 150NTU. From over 400NTU, coagulant dose did not degrade water quality enough for sandfiltration. By that point, ground water was blended in the blending tank in order to reduce water contaminant levels. All results were satisfied with quality purpose of drinking water production.

The main objective of this study is an evaluation of the efficiency of water purification condition for vegetation that can be applied to natural purification technology and construction methods for the improvement of river and lake water quality. Vegetation used in the experiments were Iris, Yellow iris, Cattail, Pearl millet, Thrumwort, Parsley, and Rush. Perennial species showing stable growth characteristic with water purification capacity were chosen as test aquatic plant for the vegetation. The experiments were carried out twice as divided into first and second experiment. In the first experiment, removal efficiency of COD, T-N and T-P was 47.1%, 48.2% and 45.9%, respecitively for Cattail, showing the highest removal efficiency among tested plant species. Simultaneously, Cattail showed highest growth rate, and it has been suggested that Cattail is the most proper species for the purification of river and lake water. Based on removal efficiency of T-P as 26.5% with growth amount of 5.2 g, Iris can be applied to river and lake water treatments. Results of second experiment, removal efficiency of COD and T-N was 40.4% and 44.3%, respectively for Cattail with the highest removal efficiency among plant species. On the other hand, removal efficiency of T-P was highest for Parsley showing 51.8%. As results, Cattail and Parsley were suggested as the most appropriate species for water treatment vegetation that can be applied to the sites having serious water quality problem and frequent disturbances including floods.

The aim of this study was to investigate the nutrient removal using Mg-Sericite flocculant in the domestic wastewater. Mg-Sericite flocculant removed successfully 98-100% of the nutrient in the domestic wastewater at the following optimal parameters: turbidity, TSS and COD by Mg-Sericite dosage 10 mg/L, TP and PO4-P by Mg-Sericite dosage 20 mg/L and NO3-N and TN by 25 mg/L and 30 mg/L Mg-Sericite dosage, respectively. These results indicated that a biopolymer, Mg-Sericite, can be a promising flocculant due to its high efficiency and low dose requirements. In addition, Mg-Sericite does not contaminate treated wastewater, which can be recycled to reduce not only the cost and the demand for water but also the extra operational costs for reusing wastewater.

This study was undertaken to treat the aqueous solutions containing the organic pollutants, PCP(p-chlorophenol) and DBS(sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate), by adsorption and biofilm processes using activated carbon fiber(ACF A-15) packed columns. And the changes of trihalomethane formation potentials(THMFP) in the model experimental system was investigated to clarify the mechanisms of the decrease/increase of THMFP in the biological activated carbon treatment. When adsorption of bi-components solution(PCP and DBS) was progressed, DBS , which was initially adsorbed, was replaced by PCP. The final adsorption capacities for these components at SV(space velocity) of 3.6h-1 were in good agreement with the batch single adsorption measurement, but for the SV of 11.3h-1, the adsorption capacity for DBS was found to be decreased. The removal efficiencies for DBS and PCP in bi-components system, were over 50% and 70%, respectively by BAC treatment. In case of treating the bi-components solution(PCP and DBS) mixed with raw stream water, the removal efficiencies for these components were greatly improved to over 90%. It was found that DBS restrains the THMFPs of PCP more or less. However, from the THMFP removal point of view, treating the bi-components (PCP and DBS) feed solution mixed with raw stream water containing abundant biomass, appeared to be more effective than treating the bi-components solution without raw stream water.

This research was performed to clarify the mechanisms of nitrogen and phosphorus removal by wood powder and to subsequently provide kinetic parameters for activated sludge process. Mixed powder was added directly to the aeration basin in the activated sludge process. The COD and phosphorus removals in the reactor were increased by 10 ~20%, 50~60%, respectively. Addition of the mixed powder achieved over 80% on nitrogen removal. Dewaterability of the sludge was determined by measuring the capillary suction time(CST). The sludge produced from the process with the mixed powder exhibited improved dewaterability, which was probably due to the conditioning effect of FeCl3 solution used in preparation of the mixed powder. The heat of sludge was also increased from 3,642kcal/kg to 5,748kcal/kg by the addition of the powder to the activated sludge process. The result of activated sludge system operation provided an evidence that the addition of wood powder to the system could enhance the overall treatment efficiency.

The most important thing at natural stream restoration or stream restoration is making systematic basic investigation way and close plan. to do this it is very important to make faithful plan and design before the stream restoration work. And we used AHP analysis method to make the order of priority of Incheon metorpolitan city``s small Streams: Gongchoncheon, Gulpocheon, Seunggicheon, Jangsucheon. As the 1st evaluation items, we made ``Safety``, ``Health``, ``Convenience`` and ``Amenity``. According to the analysis, at the 1st evaluation items the estimators lay stress on “Safety” and followed by ``Health``, ``Amenity`` and ``Convenience``. This means the importance of the water control or utilization of river at natural stream restoration. And at the ``Safety``, ``Administration of public peace`` was the most important. At the ``Health``, ``Water quality control`` was the most important. Of the ``Convenience``, ``Use of culture and facilities`` was the most important. Of the ``Amenity``, ``Build of green belt`` was the most important. The result of this study can be emphasized both the expert and ordinary persons. And it can play an important role to the build of stream restoration system.
