한 국가의 국력은 그 나라의 경제력에 달려있고, 그 나라의 경제력은 기업의 생산력에 달려 있으며, 기업의 생산력은 기업을 움직이는 사람의 능력과 의욕에 달려 있다. 이렇게 본다면 국가경쟁력의 원천이 되는 인적자원을 대상으로 자신의 특성을 알도록 해주고 직업세계에 대한 정보를 제공해 주며, 직업능력의 개발 및 직업적응을 도와주기 위해 전문적인 서비스를 제공하는 진로 및 직업상담 은 한 국가의 경쟁력 유지와 향상에 매우 중요한 역할을 담당한다고 볼 수 있다. 이 글에서는 이러 한 문제의식에 바탕을 두고 다음과 같은 주제들을 탐색해 보고자 한다. 첫째, 국가경쟁력의 개념과 구성요소는 무엇이며 이는 진로 및 직업 상담과 어떻게 관련이 되는가? 둘째, 국가경쟁력 향상의 관점에서 본 우리나라 진로 및 직업상담의 현황과 문제점은 무엇인가? 셋째, 국가경쟁력 향상을 위 한 진로 및 직업상담의 과제는 무엇인가? 본 논문은 위와 같은 질문에 답하면서 국가경쟁력 향상을 위해서 해결해야 할 진로 및 직업상담의 주요 과제로 다음과 같은 사항을 제안하고 있다. 첫째 진로 및 직업 상담에 대한 인식전환, 둘째 교사와 상담자의 진로 및 직업상담 역량 제고, 셋째 진로 및 직업상담 목표의 다양화, 넷째 진로 및 직업상담 내용의 다양화, 다섯째 진로 및 직업상담 방법 의 다양화, 여섯째 교과학습 및 학급관리를 통한 진로지도 활성화, 일곱째 진로 및 직업상담 대상의 확대, 여덟째 진로 및 직업상담 인프라 구축.

The power of a nation depends on the economic power of the nation and the economic power of the nation depends on the productivity of corporations. The productivity of corporations depends on the ability and ambition of men that work for the corporations. In that sense, career and vocational counseling takes on a very important role for maintaining and improving national competitiveness as it provides information on vocations for human resources that are the source of national competitiveness, determines their own characteristics, and provides professional services to them so that they can develop their vocational competence and adapt themselves to their vocations. In this paper, the following themes will be investigated based on such issues. First, what are the concepts and compositional factors of national competitiveness and how are they related to career and vocational counseling? Second, in terms of improvement in national competitiveness, what is the current status of career and vocational counseling in Korea and what are the problems? Third, what are the tasks for career and vocational counseling for the improvement of national competitiveness? Answering the questions above, this study suggests the following as the main tasks of career and vocational counseling to be done for the improvement of national competitiveness. First, change in the recognition of career and vocational counseling, Second, competence improvement of teachers and counselors for their careers and vocational counseling, Third, diversification of careers and vocational counseling goals, Fourth, diversification of content for career and vocational counseling, Fifth, diversification of the ways for career and vocational counseling, Sixth activation of career guidance through curriculum teaching and class management, Seventh extension of the scope of those who take part in career and vocational counseling, Eighth building infrastructure for career and vocational counseling.
