본 연구는 장난감 디자인의 방법적 가이드라인을 개발하기 위한 기초 자료로서 능동적 신체 놀이 영역 장난감의 일반적 특성의 도출을 시도한 연구이다. 본 연구의 독특한 점은 장난감의 특정한 측면이나 특정한 사용자의 관점을 전제하지 않고 일반적인 특성의 추출을 시도한 점에 있다. 이를 위해 연구 대상 영역의 장난감의 행동장면을 표집, 분석함으로써 특징을 추출하였고, 추출된 특징들을 가지고 근거이론방법론을 적용한 개념 구축을 시도함으로써 특성을 구성하였다. 그 결과 장난감의 행위적 측면과 기능적 측면에서의 유형이 구분되어졌으며, 연구 대상 장난감들의 일반적 특성들이 단순성, 구체성, 역동성, 통제성, 활용성, 다원성, 구성수준, 지원제공, 공간, 새로움, 구조구성 및 제공되는 자극, 안정성 및 용이성, 인터랙션, 스타일링 등 디자인 처리라는 대 개념 아래 체계화된 하위 개념의 형태로 연관적 구성을 이루며 도출되어졌다. 본 연구는 그간 연구의 불모영역으로 남겨져 있던 장난감 디자인의 방법론 개발과 관련된 연구로서, 체계적인 탐구를 통해 대상 영역 장난감의 일반적 특성을 도출하여 장난감 디자인의 방법적 가이드라인을 개발하기 위한 기초 자료로서 제공하였다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있겠다.
This study is done as a pre-research of future study to deduct design guideline for toy design. The uniqueness of this research is to attempt to deduct the general attributes of toys not the specific attributes from specific point of view. For this the researcher collected 141 behavioral scenes of child / children in use of the toys of active physical play category and performed behavior setting analysis to deduct individual characteristics of each toy. Then the researcher continued to develop concept and theory out of deducted characteristics applying grounded theory methodology. KJ method was adopted to arrange the materials on the base of relationship of each characteristics, concept, and theory. The result led to the classification of toys on the behavioral and functional basis and also the deduction of attributes by the classification and arrangement of the characteristics of the toys into the categories such as simplicity, concreteness, dynamism, control, applicability, pluralism, level of composition, support, space, novelty, formation of function and stimulation, stability and easiness, interaction, styling and design. The significance of this study can be found that this research attempted to deduct the attributes of toys taking methodological approach to be used as the basic data for the deduction of design guidelines for toy design of which area was left almost barren from the view of academic research hitherto.
