본 연구에서는 어머니 우울증상과 자녀 우울증상의 관계에서 ‘지각된 비난’, ‘감정적 과개입’ 등 어머니 표출감정의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 서울에 소재하고 있는 2곳의 초등학교 5, 6학년과 어머니 451쌍을 대상으로 어머니 우울증상을 측정하기 위해 Beck의 우울척도(BDI), 자녀 우울증상을 측정하기 위해 한국형 소아 우울척도(CDI)를 사용하였고, 어머니 표출감정을 측정하기 위해 가족정서관여 및 비난 척도(FEICS)를 사용하였다. 그 결과 어머니 우울증상이 높을수록 ‘지각된 비난’이 심하였고 어머니의 ‘감정적 과개입’이 적었다. 어머니 표출감정인 ‘지각된 비난’과 ‘감정적 과개입’은 자녀 우울증상에 유의한 영향을 미쳐 어머니의 ‘지각된 비난’이 높으면 자녀의 우울증상이 심하였고 어머니의 ‘감정적 과개입’이 높으면 자녀 우울증상이 적었다. 어머니 표출감정의 하위요인별 매개효과를 보면 어머니 우울증상이 자녀 우울증상을 높일 때 어머니 표출감정의 하위요인인 ‘지각된 비난’과 ‘감정적 과개입’의 매개효과가 유의하여 일부 원인으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같이 본 연구에서는 어머니 우울증상과 자녀 우울증상의 연결과정에서 어머니의 ‘지각된 비난’과 가족 간의 ‘감정적과개입’ 등 표출감정의 중요성을 확인하였다는데 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of mothers` Expressed Emotion in the relationships between mother`s and child`s depression. The subject were 451 elementary students(212boys, 239girls) from 4th to 5th grade and their mothers in Seoul. Mothers were assessed by Beck Depression Instrument, Family Involvement and Criticism scale and the children were assessed by Children`s Depression Inventory. The results were as follows: First, total score of mothers` depression, subfactors of mother`s and child`s depression showed a significant positive correlations. Mothers` depression and EOI(emotional overinvolvement) showed a significant negative correlations. But mothers` depression and PC (perceived criticism) had a significant positive correlations. EOI and child`s depression showed a significant negative correlations. But PC and child`s depression showed a significant positive correlations. Second, PC had a significant positive efforts on mother`s and child`s depression but EOI showed a significant negative efforts on mother`s and child`s depression. Third, PC and EOI partially mediated in mother`s and child`s depression. This study was confirmed the mediating effects of mothers` EE especially PC and EOI in the relationships between mother`s and child`s depression.
