그림책에서 발견되는 서사 방식과 독자가 그림책으로부터 받아들이는 수용 양상을 찾아보고 이들 간의 상관성을 통계적인 방법으로 파악하여 특정한 서사 방식이 특정한 수용 양상을 유발하는지를 추정적으로 밝힌 연구이다. 연구는 두 간계로 진행되었는데 1차 연구에서는 근거이론 방법론을 사용하여 연구를 진행하였는데 먼저 각 그림책을 보고 서사 전문가가 서사 방식과 수용 양상에 대하여 특별한 제한 없이 기술한 문장들을 수집하고 그로부터 핵심 단어를 찾은 후 이를 가지고 다시 기술문을 재구성 하고 이를 통합, 유형화하는 방식으로 개념을 정리하였다. 그 결과 서사 방식과 수용 양상에 있어 각 7가지씩 총 14가지 유형이 도출되었다. 2차 연구에서는 각 그림책마다 해당되는 서사 방식과 수용 양상을 표시하여 그 관계를 표로 정리하고 이를 통계적 방법을 사용하여 처리함으로써 서사 방식과 수용 양상 간의 상관성을 찾았다. 최종적으로 높은 정적 혹은 부적 상관성을 보인 서사 방식과 수용 양상의 유형들을 찾아 이들 상관을 바탕으로 특정한 서사 방식이 특정한 수용 영상을 유발할 걸이라는 추정적인 결론을 도출하였다.

This research is to find out whether the specific narrative method tends to affect and induce specific mode of perception on the reader`s part. The research was performed in two studies: In study 1 the researcher collected descriptions on narrative method and mode of perception described by the narratologist and extracted the core words. Then the collected descriptions were re-described using only the core words. The core concepts on narrative method and m d e of perception were deducted by integrating and categorizing the re-described descriptions. As a result 7 types of narrative method and also 7 types of mode of perception were deducted. In study 2 the researcher marked the applicable types of narrative method and mode of perception on each matching book and arranged the relations as a data table. Then the researcher found the correlation between narrative methods, modes of perception, and narrative method and mode of perception applicable to each book by processing the data statistically. The effect of narrative methods in picture books on reader`s mode of perception was estimated from the analysis of meaningful correlations between the types.
