본 논문은 고려 중기에 활동하던 李資玄(1061-1125)Lee ja-hyen의 선사상을 연구한 것이다. 이자현에 대해서는 연구 자료가 부족한 실정에 비하면 적잖은 논문이 나와있는데,그 논문들에 의하면 이자현의 선사상을楞嚴禪(Leng Yan Chan) 이라고 평가했었지만, 필자는 그의 선사상은 『楞嚴經』(Leng Yan Jing)에 나오는 한 이야기를 화두로 삼아 수행하는 看話禪(Kan hua Chan)의 일종이라고 논증했다. 이렇게 『楞嚴經』을 소재로 한 이야기를 선승들이 소재로 삼아 수행에 이용하는 실례는 이미 당나라의雪峰(Xue feng) 선사에서도 발견된다. 따라서 필자는 『雪峰語錄』(Xue Feng Yu Lu)을 면밀히 분석하여 자기의 주체성 확립을 강조하는 설봉선사의 선사상을 들추어내었고, 그런 사상이 이자현에게도 동일하게 있었음 논증하였다. 설봉선사와 이자현을 연관하여 논의할 수 있는 근거는 이자현 자신이 설봉선사의 사상을 높이평가하고 있다는 데에서 마련된다.

A survey has recently been conducted of the most widely known Buddhists which is called zen Buddhism of Lee, ja-hyen李資玄(1061-1125) who lived in Korea Dynasty period. It reveals at present that Lee`s Zen is sort of Kan-hua-chan看話禪, A similar pattern can be seen for the beginning of Lan-Yan_Jing楞嚴經 in addition to the role of meditation. Thus illustration was already found Tang`s Dynasty of Xue-Feng雪峰. This helps the writer decide what information needs to be supplied in the Lee`s Zen. The purpose of writing must also be identified so as to decide what information is revenant. Very often, appropriate information is not provided. I give too much enthusiasm Xue-Feng-Yu-Lu雪峰語錄 and he influenced by Xue-Feng`s thought. It is important to make sure that Xue-Feng and Lee`s thought can understand the similar root. Each idea should be adequately developed and expressed the links between Xue-Fung ideas should be explicit.
