Organic EL devices, which have the single-layer structure of ITO(indium-tin-oxide) /PPV(poly(p-phenylene vinylene))/cathode and the double-layer structure of ITO/PVK (poly(N- vinylcarbazole)) /PPV/cathode, were fabricated and their electro-optical properties were investigated. Experimental results, in single-layer structure, shown that the increment of temperature for thermal conversion of PPV film from 140℃ to 260℃ decreases the maximum luminance from 118.8 cd/㎡(20V) to 21.14 cd/㎡(28V) and shift the maximum peak of EL spectrum from 500nm to 580nm. The lower the work function of cathode is, the more the luminance and injection current of device. In double-layer structure, as the concentration of PVK solution decreases from 0.5 wt% to 0.05 wt%, the luminance of device increases from 70.71 cd/㎡(32V) to 152.7 ed/㎡(26V).

YBa₂Cu₃O_7 single layer do SQUID magnetometers, prepared on 1 ㎠ SrTiO₃ substrates, have been fabricated and characterized. Based on the analytical description, a SQUID magnetometer design having a 8.5 mm pickup coil with 2.6 mm linewidth, and a SQUm inductance Ls = 50 pH with 3 ㎛ Josephson junctions is presented. The devices showed a maximum modulation voltage depth of 65 ㎶ and a magnetic field noise of 0.6 pT/√Hz at 1 Hz. Clear traces of human magnetocardiogram could be obtained with the SQUID magnetometer operating at 77 K.

The TMA gas sensors are fabricated with the ZnO-based thin films grown by a RF magnetron sputtering method. We investigate the surface carrier concentration, Hall electron mobility, electrical resistivity and sensitivity according to temperature variation and TMA gas concentration. The ZnO-based thin film sensors prepared by sputtering in oxygen showed higher surface carrier concentration, higher Hall mobility, higher sensitivity, and lower electrical resistivity than sensors prepared by sputtering in argon. The doping n0-based thin film sensors showed the same electrical properties in comparison with nondoping sensors. In case of sputtering on the oxygen g atmosphere, the ZnO-based thin fi1m nears doped with 4.0 wt.% A1₂O₃, 1.0 wt.% TiO₂, and 0.2 wt% V₂O_5 showed the highest surface carrier concentration of 5.95 x 10^(20) cm^(-3), Hall electron mobility of 177 ㎠/V·s, lowest electrical resistivity of 0,59x10^(-4)Ω·cm and highest sensitivity of 12.1(worthing temperature, 300 ℃, TMA gas, 8 ppm).

NO_x sensors using tungsten oxide films as a base material were prepared and their electrical and sensing characteristics have been investigated. The WO₃ thick films doped with SnO₂ or TiO₂ showed higher sensitivity and better sorption characteristics to NOx gas than the pure WO₃ films material in air at operating temperature of 400 ℃. By addition of noble catalysts, such as Ru or Au, to the TiO₂-WO₃ thick films, their sensitivity, recovery and selectivity to NO_x gas were found to be more enhanced.

The measure of motor speed using encoder is difficult to detect accurate speed and direction in very low speed because the intervals between an encoder pulse and pulse are long. So various speed estimation techniques were proposed to have the good dynamic performance in low speed. And direction detection is so important as speed measurement in very low speed. But because the conventional direction detection circuit check the direction only 1 time in 1 period of each encoder pulses, so it has long delayed detection time in very low speed, thus accurate detection of direction is difficult.  In this paper, we propose a 2 way edge det~tion method which can detect at the rising and falling edge of each encoder pulses. So it can check the direction 4 times in I period of each encoder pulses. Therefore if we use proposed method, we can reduce the detection time as 1/4 than that of conventional circuit and can detect more accurate speed and direction.  And computer simulation and experiment is performed to verify the perfomance and effect of proposed circuit and we analyze it`s results by comparing with that of conventional circuit.

In this study, the radiation monitoring system using CsI(TI) scintillation counter is developed for the measurement of radiation distribution in the field of high dose level. When the inner diameter of collimator is 8 mm, we have realized the optimum detecting efficiency and spatial resolution. At that time, the position resolution was 10 cm at 1 m from the system. And experimental results indicated that the energy resolution of the system were 10 % for 662 keV of Cs-137, 7.6 % for 1.17 MeV of Co-60, and 5.8 % for 1.33 MeV of Co-60. Also, we have shown that the real radiation distribution images may be obtained by our measurement system.

Ultrasonic sensors are widely used in various applications due to advantages of low cost, simplicity in construction, mechanical robustness, and little environmental restriction in usage. But the main purposes of the noncontact sensors are rather narrowly confined within object detection and distance measurement.  For the application of object recognition, ultrasonic sensors exhibit several shortcomings of poor directionality which results in low spatial resolution of an object, and specularity which gives frequent erroneous range readings. To resolve these problems in object recognition, an array of the sensors has been used. To improve the spatial resolution, more number of sensors are used in essence throughout the various devices of the sensor arrays. Under the disguise of a fixed number of the sensors, the array can be shifted mechanically in several steps.  In this paper we propose a practical sensor resolution enhancement method using an electronic circuit accompanying the sensor array. The circuit changes the transmitter output voltage in several steps. Using the known sensor characteristics, a set of different return echo signals provide enhanced spatial resolution. The improvement is obtained without the cost of the increased number of the sensors nor extra mechanical devices.

In this paper, a sample chamber which provide easy replacement of ISFET sensor and consume only small sample volume for electrolyte analysis is designed and a 4-channel electrolyte analyzer employing 2-point calibration method is implemented. In addition, we proposed sample loading detection circuit for minimizing sample and calibration solutions and implemented it. Developed electrolyte analyzer consists of control system part and flow system part. For the effective control of the developed hardware, system software is developed as three individual routines ; measuring routine, calibration routine and washing routine.

Polycrystalline Sr₂Nb₂O_7 and La₂Ti₂O_7 ceramics with very high Curie temperatures were synthesized by the chemical coprecipitation method (CCP). The powders synthesized were identified by XRD and their sintering behavior and physical properties were studied. The grain-orientation and electrical properties of sintered ceramics were investigated as a function of firing temperature. Single phase could be obtained by CCP method at temperature lower than that of the conventional method by 100 - 150℃. Strontium niobate, Sr₂Nb₂O_7, powder was prepared by CCP method at temperatures as low as 800 via intermediate phase of Sr₂Nb₂O_7 formed at 700℃. The resulting CCP-derived powder was observed to have finer and more uniform particle size distribution than those obtained through the conventional or the molten salt synthesis method. Sintering of CCP-derived Sr₂Nb₂O_7, powder at 1500℃ yielded a highly dense ceramics with 9% theoretical density. Very high grain-orientation developed along the (Ok0) direction was observed by SEM, which resulted in anisotropic dielectric properties of the sintered samples, with the dielectric constant values approaching those for single crystal.

The CdSe thin films were grown on the Si(100) wafers by a hot wall epitaxy method (HWE). The source and substrate temperature are 600? and 430 respectively. The crystalline structure of epilayers was investigated by double crystal X-ray diffraction(DCXD). Hall effect on the sample was measured by the van der Pauw method and studied on the carrier density and mobility dependence on temperature. From Hall data, the mobility was increased in the temperature range 30K to 150K by impurity scattering and decreased in the temperature range 150K to 293K by the lattice scattering. In order to explore the applicability as a photoconductive cell, we measured the sensitivity(γ), the ratio of photocurrent to darkcurrent(pc/dc), maximum allowable power dissipation(MAPD), spectral response and response time. The results indicated that the photoconductive characteristic were the best for the samples annealed in Cu vapor compare with in Cd, Se, air and vacuum vapour. Then we obtained the sensitivity of 0.99, the value of pc/dc of 1.39 X 10^7, the MAPD of 335mW, and the rise and decay time of l0ms and 9.5ms, respectively
