본 연구는 웹 기반 수업의 효과를 높이기 위한 방안으로서 적응적 웹 기반 학습 환경을 구축하고 이를 지원하기 위한 여러 가지 기능 요소 중 하나만 학습 매체(자료) 적응 기법을 활용하여 초등학생을 대상으로 웹 기반 학습 자료의 적응성 유무가 초등학생의 자기 주도적 학습 능력과 학습 만족도에 미치는 영향에 대해 그 효과성을 검증하고자 하였다. 검증 결과 웹 학습 자료는 초등학생들의 자기 주도적 학습 능력을 신장시키는데 유의미한 영향을 주었으나, 자료의 적응성 유무는 영향을 주지 못한 것으로 분석되었다. 한편, 학습 만족도와 관련하여서는 적응적 웹 학습 자료는 초등학생의 학습과정에 대한 만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하였으나, 학습 자료에 대한 만족도에는 유의미한 영향을 미친 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 웹 기반 수업의 효과성을 높이기 위한 적응적 학습 방법을 사용함에 있어 학습 매체 적응 기법은 웹 학습 자료에 대한 초등학생들의 만족도를 높일 수 있는 요소로 파악되었다.

This study have demonstrated enhanced self-directed learning ability and learning satisfaction with experimental evidence, by developing a learning material adaptation method that is one of the functional factors in the adaptive web based instructions. This study was taken by two groups of fourth grade in elementary school in seoul and the results are summarized as follows. First, learning material on the web enhanced significantly self-directed learning ability(t=3.21, p<.05), but the presence of adaptation in learning materials did not(t=1.84, p>.05). So learning enhancement was unlikely to be obtained by the learning materials used in this study. Finally, the group that had used adaptive materials for learning on the web showed higher satisfaction of learning materials than the groups that had used non-adaptive materials(t=-.3.66, p<.05). Adaptive learning materials were likely to contribute to the increase of satisfaction to learning materials by providing the capability that learners can choose the learning materials fit in learner`s interest and characteristics for themselves. Therefore, this study provided experimental evidence of adaptive materials for learning on the web in self-directed learning ability and learning satisfaction. Further studies are required to comprehend various adaptive functions or learner characteristics.
