The nanosecond laser assisted ablation have been investigated. The biocompatable polymer PMMA was employed as the target material and the two distinctive surface conditions were test. The first surface condition is a dry surface for which the target surface is exposed to air and the second surface condition is the wet surface for which the target surface is covered with dehydrated water. The ablation volume, the laser induced acoustic wave, the laser induced plasma were investigated for both wet and dry condition. The nanosecond laser pulse ablatied more on the wet surface compared to the dry surface. The enhanced ablation of wet surface is attributed to the confined acoustic wave and the laser-induced plasma in the liquid layer.

This paper proposes a new measurement method using virtual power concept to measure the effective value of 3-phase voltage with variable frequency. The conventional effective value measurement method uses a method of integrating data sampled during one or half cycle of the power voltage and averaging it. In this method, since the effective voltage is calculated every cycle, a time delay occurs in the measured effective voltage and it is s a problem to measure the effective value of a device whose frequency varies from time to time, such as a generator. The proposed 3-phase voltage rms measurement method has an advantage that it can measure accurate voltage RMS value regardless of measurement frequency variation. In particular, there is an advantage in that it is possible to measure a 3-phase effective voltage rather than an average value of the effective voltage of each phase in a 3-phase unbalance voltage. In addition, the validity of the proposed method is verified by using the Psim simulation tool and the experimental results are analyzed by applying the proposed measurement algorithm to the actual three phase synchronous generator voltage measurement experiment.

In this study, we experiment by making and designing of compression ignition diesel engine witch has air cooling, 2-cylinder and 2-strokes. Also, we make controller witch can control injection timing and period by arbitrary manual operation for change of injection timing. We also study experimentally in change about pressure and power of combustion chamber by increasing density of air which comes into cylinder because of increasing scavenging pressure. Through this, we confirmed that output change and scavenging pressure can develop performance of the engine by scavenging efficiency of a chamber and development of volume efficiency.

For tracking a varying number of people using laser range finder, it is important to deal with appearance/disappearance of people due to various causes including occlusions. We propose a method for tracking people with automatic initialization by integrating observations from laser range finder. In our method, the problem of estimating 2D positions and orientations of multiple people's walking direction is formulated based on a mixture kalman filter. Proposal distributions of a kalman filter are constructed by using a mixture model that incorporates information from a laser range scanner. Our experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of our method.

Carbon fiber composite laminate has been widely used in the area of sports applications such as race car, golf club, fishing rods, yacht. In this study, carbon fiber composite laminate was used in the rear upright of leisure purposed small size single-seat electric race car to reduce its unsprung mass of suspension system. The focus of this research is to investigate in finding optimal stacking lay-up of rear upright laminated with carbon fiber composite in the early design phase. Forces transferred from circuit road to rear upright were estimated through MBD(Multi-Body Dynamics)model of the rear suspension geometry. To evaluate the strength of the rear upright laminated with carbon fiber composite which generally behaves in an anisotropic or orthotropic manner, FEA(Finite Element Analysis) model suitable for composite materials was built followed by its strength was evaluated depending on different stacking lay-up. The result showed that Symmetric stacking lay-up [45°/-45°/90°/0°]S for frontal area and symmetric stacking lay-up with 1mm aluminum core [45°/-45°/90°/Core]S for rear area were most suitable of 16 lay-up cases from the side of both strength based on Tasi-wu failure index and weight.

This paper proposed a new technology to control a path forging parts in limited narrow space of manufacturing process automation for smart factory. In the motion control, we adapted the obstacle avoidance technology based on ultrasonic sensors. The new motion control performance test for a mobile robot is experimented in narrow space environments. The travelling path control is performed by a fuzzy control logic. which plays a role for selecting an appropriate behavior in accordance with the situation in the vicinity of the mobile robot. Ultrasonic sensors installed at the front face of the mobile robot are used. In order to update the current position and heading angle of the mobile robot, a new approch is adapted. The reliability is illustrated by simulation and experiments.

Based on accurate image processing technology, a system for measuring displacement in ㎛ for drive error (position error, straightness error, flatness error) at a distance using parallel light and image sensor is developed, and a system for applying this technology development to a large 3D rapid prototyping machine and compensating in real time is developed to dramatically reduce the range of measurement error and enable intelligent 3D production of high quality products.

The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of parents with amblyopic children. The data were collected from August 2018 to May 2019. This study involved semi-structured in-depth individual interviews and was analyzed in terms of Giorgi's phenomenological methodology. The participants of this study were 7 mothers with amblyopic children. Verbatim transcripts were analyzed. Four themes-clusters were identified: passing without realizing the clues of action, experiencing emotional distress, enduring the long and tough process of treatment, and making every effort to escape from amblyopia. The findings from this study provide a deep understanding of mothers'experiences of caring for amblyopic children. Based on the findings, health care providers need educational programs that include a step-by-step eye health program. In addition, compliance needs to be improved.

This paper present a novel 6-axis robotic base platform with force/moment sensing. The robotic base platform is made up of six loadcells connecting the moving plate to the fixed plate by spherical joints at the both ends of loadcells. The statics relation is derived, the robotic base platform prototype and the loadcell measurement system are developed. The force/moment calibrations in joint and Cartesian spaces are performed. The algorithm to detect external force applied at a working robot is derived, and using a 6-DOF robot mounted on the robotic base platform, force/moment measurement experiments have been performed.

In this paper, a novel adaptive gripper with underactuation is presented, which can change its configuration to parallel or power grip mode according to object shapes. Differently from the commercial adaptive gripper by RobotiQ, the proposed gripper includes an actual parallelogram inside a five-bar mechanism, which allows the free selection of actuator locations and can reduce actuation torques effectively. The forward and inverse kinematics for two grip modes and statics analysis have been analyzed. From the comparative design, the proposed gripper has about 20% smaller size, 3.7% larger stroke, and 30.5% smaller average actuation torque than the commercial one.
