This study analyzed the share of husband's time in dual-earner couple's total time spent on sleep, personal care, leisure, and household unpaid labor (including childcare and housework), and what factors were associated with the change in husband's time share by taking a family life cycle perspective. In doing so, a total of 1,722 time diaries written by 1,407 matched couples on weekdays were extracted from the 2014 Korean Time Use Survey data. The sample was categorized by the age of the eldest child into four age groups of 0-6, 7-12, 13-18, and 19-29. Analytic results showed that, first, husband's share in couple's total time spent on sleep, leisure, and household labor differed depending on children's age groups, with husband's share increasing in sleep and leisure time, whereas decreasing in household labor time as children grew. Second, different factors were associated with the increase in husband's time share not only among sleep, personal care, leisure and household labor, but also with the growing of the child. These findings reflect the time redistribution strategies taken by dual-earner couples in order to respond to the changing time demands in households as the family developed, and supported the arguments suggesting more active role of wives than husbands in redistribution of time to household labor from other spheres within the family.

The purpose of this study was to examine the research trends on storytelling education for young children in Korea. It analyzed theses, dissertations, and articles published in Korea from 2009 to 2018 focusing on the research methods, themes, and outcomes. Among the papers to be analyzed, the experimental study also investigated the type of activity, application effectiveness, story source, and utilization medium. The results are as follows. First, it was found that 2014 was pivotal for the increase in the number and diversification of such research. Second, as for research method, quantitative study was the most popular research type, primarily through experimental research. The most frequent research targets were young children, five years old. Third, the largest number of papers focused on the themes of the educational effects of storytelling on young children and the development of storytelling programs. Fourth, storytelling has been used mostly in circle time and math activity. Most of the studies analyzed the application effectiveness in terms of cognitive and affective domains of young children. As for the type of story origins, a created story by researcher was mostly used, and pictorial and PPT data were also frequently used as medium. Finally, the outcomes of the studies were described in accordance with the category investigated, and then discussions on limitations and suggestions for future studies were also described.

Today's infants and toddlers are living in a digital environment. This study adopted a post-qualitative perspective, rather than relying on qualitative methods, to treat multimedia as a performative agent in its own right with the aim of obtaining more detailed insights into infants' and toddlers' lives surrounded by multimedia. To examine the intra-actions between and within infants/toddlers and multimedia, I recorded data on three infants/toddlers over the course of six to eight sessions from June 2017 to April 2018. My analysis established that multimedia has pervaded the lives of infants and toddlers, not restrained by spatial and temporal boundaries, and that multimedia and infants/toddlers are interconnected through intra-actions accompanied by minute changes. Through this study, I anticipate that intra-action would inform a new perspective that incorporates interactions between humans and material objects (i.e., multimedia), along with interpersonal interactions, into research on learning.

This study examined the mediating effect of rejection sensitivity in the relationship between dispositional self-focused attention and depression in upper elementary school students. The participants of this study were 501 elementary students (245 boys and 256 girls) aged 10 to 12 years who enrolled in eight elementary schools located in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeong-gi province. To measure the research variables, the Children's Depression Inventory, the Scale for Dispositional Self-focused Attention Social situation(Lee & Kwon, 2005), and the Children's Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire were used. Also, structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to investigate the mediating model. The results of this study were as follows. First, the levels of dispositional self-focused attention and the rejection sensitivity both increased the level of students' depression. Second, the rejection sensitivity partially mediated the relationship between their dispositional self-focused attention and depression. In conclusion, the higher the level of dispositional self-focused attention, the higher the level of rejection sensitivity, and consequently, the higher the elementary school student's depression. These results suggested that reducing the level of dispositional self-focused attention and rejection sensitivity would play a significant role in alleviating their depression.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of balanced time perspective on undergraduate student's flourishing, and see the mediating effect of social connectedness. For this purpose, we conducted online and offline surveys of 205 undergraduate students at universities across the nation in Korea and the results were analyzed using SPSS 23.0. First, through one-way ANOVA, future-positive time perspective group or balanced time perspective group's flourishing were higher than group with past-positive time perspective or restrictive time perspective. For social connectedness, balanced time perspective group and other three groups showed different result. Thus, balanced time perspective group showed higher social connectedness. Second, positive predictors of undergraduate students' flourishing are school life satisfaction, academic achievement satisfaction, balanced time perspective and social connectedness. Lastly, social connectedness partly mediate the relationship between balanced time perspective and flourishing. Thus, it shows that undergraduate students' balanced time perspective has direct influence on flourishing as well as indirect influence through social connectedness.

The present study examined the effects of self-concept clarity and stress coping styles on depression in undergraduate students, and whether stress coping styles moderated the relation between self-concept clarity and depression. The participants of this study were 355 students (145 males and 209 females) from 15 universities located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. To measure the level of depression, the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression(CES-D) Scale was used. The level of self-concept clarity was assessed by the Self-concept Clarity Scale. Also, stress coping styles were measured by Coping Styles Inventory. The data was analyzed by means of descriptive statistics and hierarchical regressions. The moderating effects of stress coping styles were investigated using the analysis procedures proposed by Baron and Kenny . The results indicated that the levels of self-concept clarity and problem-focused coping decreased the level of depression. Moreover, problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping and aesthetic thinking moderated the effects of self-concept clarity on depression.

The purpose of this study was to explore how low-income older adults living alone and their life managers in the care services for low-income older adults living alone experienced their caregiving relationship. Analysis was based on nine low-income older adults living alone and their nine life managers. Three themes were identified: perceptions on their caregiving relationship, different expectations between the older adults and their life managers, and efforts to improve their relationships. Regarding the perceptions on their caregiving relationship, the low-income older adults living alone thought their life managers as a family or even better than their own family. The life managers also had a rewarding experience. Despite these positive experiences in the caregiving relationship, they had different expectations for the relationship. The older adults had different perceptions of care services based on their living conditions and their relationship with their life managers. In terms of the life managers, they perceived their role as both a volunteer and a professional. In addition, they experienced difficulties in establishing different relationships with 30 individuals who have different expectations on the care service. Considering their efforts to improve their relationships, the older adults expressed their gratitude by sharing foods and prayer. The life managers also had endeavored to improve their services by acquiring professional qualifications and utilizing their personal network. These findings suggest that life managers are important interpersonal and economic resources for the older adults living alone and it is important to improve the work conditions of life managers in order to provide better services for low-income older adults living alone.
