The Lifelong Education Act of South Korea excludes school education, and studies related to school lifelong education focus only on the physical combination between school and lifelong education. I believe this is problematic and this paper deals with the logical relationship between school education and lifelong education. The key argument of this paper is that schools should play an active role in the construction of lifelong learning societies. In particular, teachers should help students discover aptitude and become active learners. I hope that this study can reveal the logical relationship between school education and lifelong education.

Given that Augustine's conversion implies a qualitative growth in his life, this paper aims to interpret the last three books (11-13) in his Confessions from an educational point of view. With this view, I argue, these books can be regarded as summaries of his educational theory as follows. After showing that his conversion results from an exploration of the inner self in book 10, Augustine suggests prayer as a significant way to higher understanding in book 11. To avoid this understanding only in a private sense, he insists that all knowledge we acquire should be rooted in universal truths in book 12. Despite those above, However, Augustine urges us to notice ourselves as limited beings, which nevertheless has the trinity in us as the potential to grow in book 13. This view allows us to consider the books 11-13 as a development history of inner growth.

Due to the scientific tendency and to quantify the results of educational activities, teachers are unable to form meaning in their daily lives and suffer from severe nihilism. By the analysis of the precedent study, which analyzed teacher's culture, I recognized that the teacher's nihilism was manifested in the form of ritualization, conformity and individualism. Based on Dewey's concept of artistic experience, I argued that teacher's nihilism was caused by the deprivation of 'quality' that make the integrated experience and the 'interaction' that the teachers actively communicate with the environment surrounding them.
The deprivation of artistic experience further solidifies dichotomous aspects such as ritualization-meaning, conformity-communication and individual-community. Teachers fail to generate meaning in their own educational activities and maintain passive and onlooker-like attitudes.

The study seeks to find the educational meaning of Nietzsche and Dewey by comparing their philosophy of life. To this end, I looked at the meaning and characteristics of the life philosophy of Nietzsche and the life philosophy of Dewey by focusing on each of their core ideas: 'self-overcoming' by Nietzsche and 'self-renewal' by Dewey. Through the comparison of the two, I come up with educational implications. As a result, there was a stark difference in the process of the two. While Nietzsche's self-overcoming process featured individual “skin-off”, Dewey's self-renewal process characterized “adaptation” through continuity with the environment and interaction. Nevertheless, the common implication of Nietzsche's self-overcoming and Dewey's self-renewal is that the essence of their life lies in the constant creation of their own lives. Also, such a creative life require education and training alongside the internal efforts of individuals. From this, I have suggested the role of education in the reality of our Korean education, which is tired of the college entrance exam-oriented knowledge transfer education. It is in helping learners create a true self-life.
