The perovskite system (Ba2+ 1-xLa3+ x)Fe3+ 1-tFe4+ tO3-y (y = (1 - x --t)/2) having a composition of x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 showedean increase in Fe4+ mole ratios with an increase in oxygen partial pressure (N2→air→O2), and with an increasefin s, the Fe3+ quantity decreased and oxygen content (3-y value) increased. For each N sampls heat-treated in N2 gas, a considerable weight gain, i.e.g a steadynincrease if oxygen content, was observed in the TGA data on the cooling process. The conductivity values at a constant temperature were in the order of N22; the respective log σ values (Ω-1·cm-1) at 323 K of the BL0 sample were -5.75 (BL0-N), -3.39 (BL0-A), and -0.53 (BL0-O). The mixed valencies of Fe3+ and Fe4+ ions in each sample were also confirmed by both the oxidation curve above 350 mV and the cathodic reduction curve below 200 mV from cyclic voltammetry.

A new approach to improving the electrical characteristics and optical response of a polysilicon-based metal- semiconductor-metal (MSM) photodetector is proposed. To understand the cause of current restriction in the MSM photodetector, modified trap mechanisms are suggested, which include interfacial electron traps at the metal/polysilicon interface and silicon dangling bonds between silicon crystallite grains. Those traps were passivated using hydrogen ion implantation with subsequent post-annealing. Photodetectors that were ion-implanted under optima conditions exhibited improved photoconductivity and reduced dark current instability, implying that the hydrogen bonds in the polysilicon influence the simultaneous decreases in the density of dangling bonds at grain boundaries and the trapped positive charges at the contact interface.

In this paper, a high-performance, low-area gradient-magnitude calculator architecture is proposed, based on approximate image processing. To reduce the computational complexity of the gradient-magnitude calculation, vector properties, the symmetry axis, and common terms were applied in a hardware-resource-shared architec-ture. The proposed gradient-magnitude calculator was implemented using an Altera Cyclone IV FPGA (EP4CE115F29) and the Quartus II v.16 device software. It satisfied the output-data quality while reducing the logic elements by 23% and the embedded multipliers by 76%, compared with previous work.

This reports the electrical behavior, bonding structure and Schottky contact of gallium-zinc-oxide (GZO) thin film annealed at 100~400℃. The mobility of GZO with high density of PL spectra and crystal structure was also increased because of the structural matching between GZO and Si substrate of a crystal structure. However, the GZO annealed at 200℃ with an amorphous structure had the highest mobility as a result of a band to band tunneling effect. The mobility of GZO treated at low annealing temperatures under 200℃ increased at the GZO with an amorphous structure, but that at high temperatures over 200℃ also increased when it was the GZO of a crystal structure. The mobility of GZO with a Schottky barrier (SB) was mostly increased because of the effect of surface currents as well as the additional internal potential difference.

CoxMn3-xO4 (1.48≤x≤1.63) ceramics were fabricated using the solid-state reaction method. Structural and electrical properties of specimens based on the composition ratio of Co were observed in order to investigate their applicability in NTC thermistors. All specimens showed a single spinel phase with a homogeneous tetragonal structure. The Co1.57Mn1.43O4 specimen showed a maximum average grain size of approximately 6.47 μm. In all specimens, TCR properties displayed excellent characteristics of over -4.2%/˚C. The resistivity at 298 K and B-value of the Co1.57Mn1.43O4 specimen were approximately 418 Ω-cm and 4300, respectively.

In this paper, to develop the ceramics with high d33 and high Qm for ultrasonic transducer applications, 0.10 Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3) O3-0.07 Pb(Mn1/3Nb2/3)O3 -0.83 Pb(Zr0.5Ti0.5)0.83O3 (PNN-PMN-PZT) ceramics were sintered at 940℃ using CuO-Li2CO3-Bi2O3 (CLBO) as a sintering aid by a traditional solid-state technique. The influence of zinc oxide additive on the physical properties of the prepared ceramics were systematically investigated. The R-T (rhombohedral-tetragonal) phase coexistence was found in the ceramics without zinc oxide additive and with increasing amounts of ZnO additive, the specimens showed a tetragonal phase. The formation of a liquid phase between ZnO and Bi2O3 contributed significantly to the grain growth of specimens. For the 0.1 wt% ZnO ceramics, the optimal physical properties of d33= 370 pC/N, εr = 1,344, kp= 0.621, and Qm= 1,523 were obtained.

Breakdown of solid insulating materials in power equipment could result in undesired outages and replacements, and may be due to an increase in electric stress on the material. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a proper diagnosis of materials before their practical use. In this work, a few inherent properties of different non-cellulosic insulating materials, such as Nomex, Teflon, laminated Nomex, glass bonded mica, epoxy resin bonded mica paper, and epoxy resin bonded fiberglass, have been evaluated by performing non-destructive dielectric diagnostic measurements, and an attempt has been made to correlate these basic parameters to evaluate the breakdown strength (BDS). An equation has been proposed using a basic theory which defines the correlation between the BDS, dielectric constant, dissipation factor, sample thickness, and volume resistivity. The results obtained from the equation are also compared with the experimental values. The suggested equation will be helpful to predict the BDS of any non-cellulosic material without experimentation in the laboratory.

Infrared (IR) filters were developed to implement integrated three-dimensional (3D) image sensors that are capable of obtaining both color image and depth information at the same time. The combination of light filters applicable to the 3D image sensor is composed of a modified IR cut filter mounted on the objective lens module and on-chip filters such as IR pass filters and color filters. The IR cut filters were fabricated by inorganic SiO2/TiO2 multilayered thin-film deposition using RF magnetron sputtering. On-chip IR pass filters were synthetized by dissolving various pigments and dyes in organic solvents and by subsequent patterning with photolithography. The fabrication process of the filters is fairly compatible with the complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process. Thus, the IR cut filter and IR pass filter combined with conventional color filters are considered successfully applicable to 3D image sensors.

Reconfiguration is an important method to minimize power loss and load interruption by creating an optimal configuration of a system. Furthermore, by increasing demand and value of consumption, construction of new power plants can be postponed in networks by reconfiguration and proper arrangement of linkage switches. This method is feasible for radial networks, which create meshes of linkage switches. One convenient way to achieve a system with minimal power loss and interruption is to utilize capacitors. Optimal placement and sizing of capacitors in such applications is an important issue in the literature. In this paper, cat swarm optimization is introduced as a new metaheuristic algorithm to achieve this purpose. Simulation has been carried out in two feasible networks, 69-bus and 33-bus systems.

Recently, owing to increased interest in low-carbon energy supplies, renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics and wind turbines in distribution networks have received considerable attention for generating clean and unlimited energy. The presence of energy storage systems (ESSs) in the promising field of active distribution networks (ADNs) would have direct impact on power system problems such as encountered in probabilistic distributed generation (DG) model studies. Hence, the optimal procedure is offered herein, in which the simultaneous placement of an ESS, photovoltaic-based DG, and wind turbine-based DG in an ADN is taken into account. The main goal of this paper is to maximize the net present value of the loss reduction benefit by considering the price of electricity for each load state. The proposed framework consists of a scenario tree method for covering the existing uncertainties in the distribution network's load demand as well as DG. The collected results verify the considerable effect of concurrent installation of probabilistic DG models and an ESS in defining the optimum site of DG and the ESS and they demonstrate that the optimum operation of an ESS in the ADN is consequently related to the highest value of the loss reduction benefit in long-term planning as well. The results obtained are encouraging.
